At Mera Kal, our mission is to empower the new middle class to plan for and achieve their life goals using simple, affordable financial services. We’re passionate about widening affordable credit access to millions of families and driven by this purpose to build category-defining products and services.

This demographic has grown by over 100mn people in the last 5 years alone and is more mobile enabled and digitally savvy than ever before. In addition, they hold increasingly more financial assets, with 34% of household savings in bank deposits, FDs, insurance, provident and pension funds, equities, etc. vs. just 28% a decade ago.

Unlike physical assets like property and gold, financial assets are highly under-leveraged. With tailwinds from new national digital infrastructure and regulatory changes with respect to credit, we believe this is a tremendous opportunity ripe for change now!
